A good welcome creates satisfied employees who stay longer. This is the principle behind COWI's introduction and onboarding programme, which applies to all new employees at COWI's offices around the world.
The programme includes a personal introduction plan. From the first day on the job, the plan provides an overview of future assignments, meetings and courses. It also provides names, contact data and photos to the people who will be guiding the new employee for the first months.
An experienced colleague is appointed as a mentor to the new employee. The mentor introduces the new employee to department culture, work processes and social interaction for the first two months.
The coordinator also makes sure that the new employee knows about administrative issues ranging from IT, printers, e-mails and telephones to how to settle travel expenses.
The personal introduction plan also covers:
- assignments for the first three months
- networks in COWI
- plans for meetings with manager and mentor
- COWI courses
