Retained consultancy agreement, Bahrain

In 2007 COWI was awarded an "in-house consultancy" contract for the design and supervision of various planned road projects with the Ministry of Works in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The project comprises road improvement assignments which range from rehabilitation of urban streets, the widening of existing semi urban arterial roads from single to dual carriageway, rehabilitation of existing road layouts within developed urban neighbourhoods to the improvement of road networks within traditional Bahraini villages.

COWI's services include development of conceptual designs, preliminary and detailed engineering and preparation of tender and contract documents.

Traffic surveys are undertaken to assess the future traffic demand, and plans are developed to take into account both driver and pedestrian safety.

Topographical site surveys and geotechnical investigations are needed together with appraisals of the need for utility relocations where required.

Review of both the hydraulic and structural capacity of existing drainage structures is carried out through hydrological studies and sizing with the design of new drainage structures as necessary.
