In 1995 COWI established an office of around 25 people in Qatar dedicated to the oil and gas industry.
Clients included Maersk, the Qatari national oil company (then called Qatar General Petroleum Corporation) and many large American oil companies.
The multidisciplinary COWI Qatar as we know it today really started in 2001 when COWI was awarded a contract to undertake the preliminary engineering and environmental studies for Qatar-Bahrain Causeway.
Other major projects in Qatar have since then or still include the Lusail Development, the Doha Bay Crossing, the Pearl as well as many environmental studies connected to marine projects.
The office in Doha today numbers almost 150 employees without considering the staff employed on our major project offices. We have a broad portfolio of clients, many who work across the globe and take us with them.
